Dr. Ito is one of the first optometrists in the United States to be Board Certified:
Board Certification is a voluntary process that establishes standards that demonstrate that the doctor of optometry has exceeded the basic requirement(s). Other Interesting Facts
Dr. Ito and the staff attended three days of intense continuing education in Monterey. The staff enjoyed a break from their studies at the Essilor exhibit booth.
Iris Implantation:
Dr. Assil was seen on Extra on ABC7 on November 13, 2009 as the "Renegade Doctor" who gave sight to a woman with Aniridia, or no iris. Dr. Ito was present to witness the same patient getting her second successful iris implantation.
Dr. Ito on TV:
John Schwada, an investigative reporter with Fox News, interviewed Dr. Ito about the impending elimination of optional insurance benefits for Medi-Cal recipients. The interview aired on Fox News and Good Morning LA on June 3 and June 4, 2009, respectively.
Dr. Ito Receives Certificate of Excellence:
Dr. Ito is recognized by Vision Service Plan for her commitment to high quality care and services. She received a Certificate of Excellence from VSP, one of the largest providers of vision insurance in the United States.
Dr. Ito Interviewed:
Santa Monica Daily Press interviewed Dr. Ito regarding the importance of eye exams for children going back to school. The article appeared on the front page of the August 21, 2008 issue.
Dr. Ito Receives Pioneer Award:
In March of 2008, Dr. Ito was recognized as a Wavefront Pioneer for her implementation of cutting-edge wavefront lens technology by Ophthonix.
